Forum Policies

The forum is intended as a temporary member-only benefit for use during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The forum is currently on unmoderated status, meaning posts do not need to be approved before they are live on the site. However, AIEA reserves the right to change this policy as-needed.

The AIEA forum can be used to:
  • Circulate messages on issues related to COVID-19 and the internationalization of higher education
  • Announce not-for-profit webinars, publications, or other resources relevant to COVID-19 and AIEA
  • Seek guidance on COVID-19-related issues for international education leaders
  • Inform members about current research, announcements, policies, or other relevant information on COVID-19 and internationalization

Before sending an announcement to the AIEA list, please ask yourself if your message could be considered "marketing." If yes, it is probably not appropriate for the AIEA forum.

The AIEA COVID-19 Forum should NOT be used to:
  • Advertise commercial products and services, such as books, travel opportunities and the like
  • Announce activities which are not clearly relevant to senior-level international educators
  • Forward "chain letters," warnings of "'virus threats," or "test" messages.
  • Request counseling on personal issues or seek funding or scholarships
  • Express grievances on personal or local issues.
  • Discuss personal political/religious beliefs and/or serve as a “soapbox” on issues
  • Distribute personal job or internship search postings or personal résumés/cv's.
  • Post press releases
  • Promote institutional programs and/or recruit participants
  • Promote job announcements

If you are uncertain whether the content of your message is appropriate, please send a copy to the AIEA Secretariat and ask for advice.

Format

  • Language: Please post all your messages in English or add an English translation and keep them concise.
  • Note: as you post, please note that any formatting you give your text will show up in the text window as html markup - this is normal!

The Fine Print

  • Members agree to abide by the policy and guidelines outlined on this page, and you will be solely and legally responsible for any statements that you make on the AIEA forum.
  • You are expected to read the guidelines carefully before using the AIEA forum, and it is recommended that you keep a copy of this page for reference.
  • AIEA reserves the right to uphold these guidelines by removing subscribers from the AIEA forums or using other administrative measures as approved by the AIEA  Board.

An example of what this looks like for the sample post is below - you can see the formatting for bolding text and inserting links.
